Agrícola Calcárea

Albariza Calcareous Soils Wines

Wines born from chalky albariza soils, crafted by hand with minimal intervention, native yeasts, and low sulfites. To me, low intervention only works when there's full attention — from the vineyard all the way to the bottle.

The dream of coming back to Andalucía — my home — after more than a decade away was what fueled the start of Agrícola Calcárea.

During my years abroad, I was lucky enough to taste some of the best wines in the world and to work harvests in different regions, learning from incredible winemakers outside of Spain. Those experiences gave me valuable knowledge and a fresh perspective. But it was time to come home.

This project is about going back to my roots — not just geographically, but also through reconnecting with the traditional mayetería (small-scale vineyard work) and classic winemaking methods, blending them with modern techniques I picked up along the way.

When it came time to settle down, I chose Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Sure, the environmental reasons are obvious: the chalky albariza soils, the Atlantic climate, the sea breeze that kisses the land, the one-of-a-kind sunlight of the Costa de la Luz, and the powerful winemaking heritage that goes back over 3,000 years. But the real reasons go deeper — it's the people, the culture, the soul of this place. The traditions, the food, the way of life... there's something about Sanlúcar that's just magic.

A Project with Andalusian Roots and a Global Vision

After more than a decade outside Spain, the desire to return to Andalusia became a reality with Agrícola Calcárea. The experience gained in some of the world's most prestigious wine regions has served to combine traditional techniques with modern knowledge, resulting in unique wines that reflect the essence of the Sanlúcar terroir.

The location is no coincidence. Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with its Atlantic climate, sea breeze and Albariza soils, offers an ideal environment for viticulture. This natural combination, together with an artisanal winemaking process based on minimal intervention, native yeasts and low sulfite content, makes it possible to obtain wines with a marked identity, authentic and full of history.

Craftsmanship and Respect for Tradition

The winemaking process follows the principles of traditional winemaking, fusing ancestral wisdom with techniques learned abroad. From the vine to the bottle, each stage is cared for with the utmost attention to respect the expression of the terroir and guarantee wines of exceptional quality.

Sanlúcar not only provides optimal conditions for viticulture, but also an unparalleled cultural value. Its people, gastronomy and customs are part of the essence of Agrícola Calcárea, where each bottle is a tribute to the history and character of this unique land.
