PORFÍA TINTO

2025

A tricky one. It started off great, but the summer turned weird — unusually cool with strong west winds. That slowed down ripening and in some areas, it just didn't fully get there. Acidity dropped a bit toward the end, but the wines came out with a lot of finesse and elegance.

2023

Pretty solid vintage. Consistent weather with no major issues led to wines of very good quality. Definitely one to stash a few bottles from — it's a keeper.

2022

Tough vintage. Several heat waves hit right when the grapes were at pea-size, causing the vines to go into vegetative shutdown. It was a struggle, but the vines bounced back in the end, and those who had the patience managed to pull off a decent harvest.

Las malas lenguas hablan sobre los tintos de Cádiz...

This Tintilla de Rota comes from Pago Carrascal in Jerez — grown on classic Albariza soils that give it that salty, savory edge that screams our terroir.

Hand-harvested, destemmed, fermented in stainless steel tanks, then pressed with a manual vertical press around day fifteen, just before the fermentation fully finished. After that, it goes back into tank to wrap up both the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. Aged for nine months in used 500L Taransaud barrels, with just a whisper of flor on top.

Tintilla de Rota is a fussy little grape — low yields, tricky to vinify, and honestly kind of ungrateful. It can end up all sweet on the nose and bitter on the palate at the same time. But it's also totally one-of-a-kind. It's slowly claiming its spot as the flagship red of our region, and honestly? I think it's best version is still to come.
